Deck Demolition

Today the deck went bye-bye. We had 9 people working for less than 3 hours, and no injuries, however there was one near miss - a nail went through Martha's shoe and in between her toes! lucky! Big thanks to Scott, Kim, Casey, Megan, Ryan, Martha, and Jeff for the awesome tear-down efforts.

We started with the railings... (Lynden, Casey and Megan pictured)


Then the stairs on the south side and floorboards on the north side.... (Lynden and Scott pictured)


At times there wasn't work for all 9 of us, so Kim set up the hammock from which to supervise.


Then we decided enough of the pounding board by board - let's saw this thing off! (Scott, Ryan, Lynden, Casey, and Jeff pictured)


And down it came, in a very controlled, non-dangerous manner. On the ground is the south half of the deck, the other half we had already pulled up the floorboards on piece by piece and cut/hauled the beams. (Lynden, Scott, Martha, and Casey pictured)



The final product. Boy it is weird looking outside the patio door now. We have multiple objects in place so we don't accidentally let Sadie out there in the morning....
We finished in perfect time - it's raining pretty hard again now.
